2022 Toyota Highlander vs 2022 Honda Pilot

If you are looking for a stylish three-row SUV that offers plenty of high-tech interior features as well as several standard safety features, then look no further than the 2022 Toyota Highlander. This year, Highlander has introduced several exciting new features to the lineup. The Highlander has always been an impressive vehicle, but it has taken things up a notch this year.

The Toyota Highlander is arguably one of the most impressive vehicles in its class. To illustrate just how impressive this vehicle is, we have decided to compare it to another popular SUV in its class. Here is a look at how the 2022 Toyota Highlander compares to the 2022 Honda Pilot.

What's New for 2022?

This year, both of these mid-sized SUVs receive a few fun and exciting new updates. Here is a look at what you can expect to find on each vehicle this year.

This year, the Highlander offers available height-adjustable front seats. Also, the Highlander is also introducing a new Hybrid Bronze Edition to the lineup. This new model comes with unique design features in both the interior and exterior. The cabin offers a new upholstery design that is highlighted by fun geometric shapes and bronze-coloured accents. There are also bronze-coloured doorsill protectors that illuminate for a bolder look. The exterior features 18-inch bronze-coloured wheels that feature a bold new design. The Hybrid Bronze Edition is offered in two exterior colour options: Wind Chill Pearl or Cement.

The Honda Pilot offers more standard high-tech equipment this year. There are a few more standard safety features as well as a larger standard infotainment display. These much-needed changes are a welcomed addition to the vehicle; however, the new changes do raise the price quite a bit. This year, the base model Pilot costs around $8,000 more than it did last year.

Interior Comparison

Both of these vehicles provide a spacious interior. Both the Pilot and the Highlander come standard with seating for eight passengers. However, they can both come with available captain's chairs in the second row, which will provide seating for up to seven people. Both cabins are also luxurious and comfortable, with the Highlander having an especially luxurious interior.

The Highlander does offer better technology and connectivity features, however. The Highlander comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display, but an extra-large 12.3-inch display is also available. Both displays come standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and SiriusXM radio. The Pilot comes standard with a 5-inch radio display, but an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display is available on higher trims.

Safety Features

The Honda Pilot comes with a wide range of standard safety and driver-assist features. Some of the more popular features include an advanced airbag system, a collision mitigation system, lane departure warning, and forward-collision warning.

While the Pilot offers an impressive amount of safety features, the Highlander comes with more standard safety features. In addition to the many standard safety features, the Highlander also comes standard with Toyota's Safety Sense 2.5 System. This system comes with a wide range of driver-assist features, which include:

  •  Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian and Cyclists Detection
  •  Automatic High Beams
  •  Front-to-Front Risk Detection'
  •  Lanes Departure Alert with Steering Assist
  •  Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
  •  Left Turn Intersection Support
  •  Lane Tracing Assist

The Honda Pilot offers one engine option this year. The standard 3.5-litre V6 engine is able to deliver up to 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque.

The Highlander, however, offers two impressive powertrain options. The standard 3.5-litre V6 engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and delivers 295 horsepower. The Hybrid option combines two electric motors with a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and is able to deliver up to 243 horsepower.
