With lockdown slowly easing throughout the country, many Canadians are looking for new ways to explore this summer. According to a recent national survey, 74 percent of Canadians have changed their summer travel plans due to the COVID-19 pandemic — with many people turning towards road trips for adventure.
In the survey, only 24 percent of Canadians said that they would feel comfortable getting on a plane, but 70 percent still feel comfortable travelling by car to destinations beyond their own town. Because of this, many are packing up and hitting the road — but they aren’t going very far. Of those Canadians planning to hit the road this summer, the majority will be staying within 100 km of home — heavily favouring day trips over lengthy road trips.
While this may not be the summer we had all envisioned, we’re excited to see Canadians getting back behind the wheel, slowing life down, and exploring more of the incredible beauty Canada has to offer.”
