In June, thousands of people across Canada took a step forward towards increasing mental health awareness. Cyclists and walkers united during the Ride Don’t Hide fundraiser on June 23 in over 35 cities, stretching from British Columbia to Newfoundland — and Hilltop Toyota was a part of this fundraising effort.
There were over 350 riders and walkers that took part in this event in Salmon Arms, both during the community’s ride at the Field of Dreams and the school ride at South Canoe Elementary School. With this event, people throughout our community were able to get out into the great outdoors, and connect not only with the people around them, but with their own mental health, too.
One in five people in Canada have a mental illness in any given year. Because of this, Ride Don’t Hide events wants to increase Canadians’ awareness of their own mental health, even if they’re not experiencing an illness. This event gives people the chance to better understand their own mindset and those of the people around them, while also helping raise the funds needed to help support the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). With 53 percent of Canadians thinking that anxiety and depression are an epidemic in Canada, now is the time to build awareness and acceptance, while speaking openly about mental health.
Over the course of June 23rd, this Ride Don’t Hide fundraiser managed to collect a total of over $1.3 million for CMHA. Celebrate the charitable spirit Hilltop Toyota brings to Salmon Arm and the surrounding areas when you stop by to test-drive one of our shiny new vehicles.
